I have known Reena Goenka for 13 years and have had the privilege of working with her in several capacities.
Reena has served in various roles in the Exco of the Transactional Analysis Association (Singapore) since 2010, and is currently the President of the TAAS Exco. She is a highly-experienced clinical practitioner of Transactional Analysis, Reena has also supported my own training courses by co-facilitating sessions in Redecision psychotherapy; her mastery of the subject and excellent communication skills have enabled participants in these sessions to intimately appreciate the effectiveness of this counselling approach.
As a Clinical Supervisor, Reena has been instrumental in providing many trainee counsellors at the Executive Counselling and Training Academy with the clinical competence and confidence they need to support the healing journey of their own clients.
Reena’s own values and character is evident in her conduct as a clinician and as a leader of the Transactional Analysis community in Singapore. As a colleague, I have come to value her integrity, straightforwardness, compassion, sense of responsibility, and reliability.

I have known Reena while she worked at WINGS as a Counsellor for three years and beyond that period, as a fellow community counsellor. During this period, she has had the experience of working with both adults and young people dealing with a range of difficulties ranging from anxiety, stress, anger, self-esteem and self-confidence, while dealing with individual, marital and family cases.
Observing her as a Colleague who also received supervision of her work from me, I noticed that Reena was always committed to be in the shoes of her clients, and was mindful of putting client’s interest above all others. She remained flexible, adaptive, and dealt with her clients with utmost respect. The other quality was being open to new way of learning and adapting which made her a good therapist.
Besides being involved in the therapeutic work, Reena took up the responsibility of conducting several Talks and Workshops to address the various needs of the clientele while being a staff at the centre.Within a team, she worked very well with other colleagues and it was observed that she could not only communicate her own ideas well to others, she could also listen well and pitch in to the voices of others, making her an excellent team player.
In terms of personal attributes, Reena has a pleasant and affable personality.I wish her well in all her future endeavours.

Clients Testimonials
Reena has been instrumental in helping me overcome the trauma of childhood abuse inflicted by my own brother, primarily through EMDR therapy. For years, I was consumed by shame and couldn't bring myself to talk about my experience. It affected my marriage and my ability to trust my son. Through therapy with Reena, I learned to let go of the past, understand that the abuse was not my fault, and realize that not all men are like my brother. I've regained the ability to trust my son and build healthy relationships instead of sabotaging them. Most importantly, I am proud that I did not spoil the beautiful relationship my siblings enjoy with each other. A heartfelt thank you to Reena for bringing sunshine into my life.
I came to Reena when I experienced motherhood anxiety and had feelings of not being a good mother. Thank you, Reena, for helping me fly as a mother. I can positively say, 'I am the best mother! :)' You helped me recognize my past patterns with Transactional Analysis, especially with the regular messages I received from my parents, problems that had built up over time. A key benefit of my therapy sessions with Reena was understanding why I felt the way I felt and how I related to people. I made a decision to be different with my child, and it worked!!! Once again, a big thank you, Reena.
Huay Khem has been a remarkable support throughout my journey with childhood trauma. She has consistently provided a safe and understanding environment where I can openly discuss my issues without fear of judgment. Her empathy and non-judgmental approach have given me the space to be myself, which has been incredibly healing.
I cannot express enough gratitude for the support I received from Huay Khem during one of the most challenging periods of my life. After experiencing a series of triggering events, I felt so lost and overwhelmed that I knew I need help. I contacted Huay Khem and her compassionate and understanding approach made all the difference.
I felt heard and validated. Huay Khem created a safe and nurturing environment where I could openly share my thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Her expertise in trauma counselling was evident as she guided me through various techniques and strategies that helped me process and heal from my traumatic experiences.
Huay Khem’s dedication to my well-being was unwavering. She was patient, kind, and incredibly insightful, always tailoring the sessions to meet my specific needs. The progress I made under Huay Khem’s care was remarkable; I began to reclaim my sense of self and rebuild my life with a newfound strength and resilience. The most obvious change was the recurring nightmare, which had disturbing me in the past, has not come back after our sessions. I am also more aware of my boundaries and are not afraid to say “no” to others anymore.
I wholeheartedly recommend Huay Khem to anyone seeking support for trauma. Her professionalism, empathy, and expertise make her an exceptional counsellor. Thank you, Huay Khem, for being a beacon of hope and helping me find the path to healing.
I met Reena at one of the most trying times in my personal life. I was going through a divorce that brought along paralyzing challenges both in the run up to it, as also the aftermath of it. Reena worked with me over nearly a year, helping me deal with the emotional and mental wreckages within me. The discussions we had helped me understand my situation objectively, rediscover my own strengths, and move ahead with a better poise. I feel psychologically better equipped today in my outlook towards life ahead. Reena is a trustworthy ally, and if all goes to hell ever again, I am certain that her counsel, professionally and personally, will be there for me.
I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks for everything you do. Going through a separation and divorce is incredibly challenging, and the emotional roller coaster can be overwhelming. Working with you, Reena, was one of the best decisions my ex and I made during this tough period. We were on somewhat amicable terms but needed someone we could trust to help us navigate our emotions and decisions.
From our first conversation, I felt a sense of relief. You listened to my concerns and provided a realistic plan to help manage my emotions and the divorce process. Your ability to set clear expectations and meet them was incredibly reassuring. You put both of us at ease and made us feel that you were completely unbiased, which was crucial during such an emotional time. Keep doing what you do, Reena. You are a wonderful person, and your work truly makes a difference in people's lives!
Thank you so much for all your guidance! You saved my relationship with my son. You helped me discover ways to reduce stress and manage it effectively. Your practical insights and compassionate approach have made a world of difference. The strategies we developed together will always stay with me. You are an amazing therapist, and I am incredibly grateful for your support!
Over three months ago, we met last time, and I wanted to share a praise report with you.
Our sessions this year really changed something in me, and this is also thanks to you! Thank you Huay Khem
Reena helped me to identify and confront a deep rooted subconscious fear that I had never vocalized. Through our sessions, I could learn how to deal with this and move forward.
Reena helped me to identify and confront a deep rooted subconscious fear that I had never vocalized. Through our sessions, I could learn how to deal with this and move forward.
I started with Reena in 2014 and could not leave ever since.
I learned a lot about marriage and was able to find the problems and the reasons for hopelessness within myself in our marriage. Helped a great deal as she walked me through my thoughts. I also did a therapy with her which helped me fix/address one of my major childhood issue which I had been carrying for 22 years. That therapy did wonders and I could happily move on with life without any more guilts.
Reena is a patient and understanding therapist who is able to distill the nuances of what I'm feeling based on what I tell her. She is encouraging yet knows when to be tough on asking challenging questions to try to get to the root of the issue and making me face hard truths.
She tries her best to accommodate to her clients' needs, and make it as collaborative a process as possible. The sessions are such that it is tailored to the client's pace and level of comfort.
"Reena really helped me when I was feeling lost. She listened to me and made me feel understood. Thanks to her, I'm much happier and more confident now."
"Adeeti is amazing! She made it easy to talk about my problems and helped me find ways to feel better. I feel so much better because of her."
Reena's pre-marital counselling has been invaluable for us as we prepare for our union, which includes bringing my stepson into our new family. She helped us navigate our values around children and set clear expectations for my boyfriend's role as a stepfather. Reena also listened to my husband's beliefs on education, which was crucial for us. For example, I had anxiety about how my son, who struggles with his studies, would feel about a stepdad stepping in to discipline him. These triggered memories of my own difficult childhood. Reena helped me understand that my boyfriend's approach and beliefs, though different from mine, could be beneficial for my son and that it was his way of parenting. I realised I didn't need to worry or overprotect my child and that I could trust my boyfriend to do his job as a parent. Thanks to Reena, we now have a stronger foundation and a clearer understanding of our roles as parents.
Adeeti made pre-marital counselling a wonderful experience. She guided us through important topics like financial planning and conflict resolution. Thanks to her support, we feel much more prepared for married life.

Letter of Appreciation
As an intern working towards professionalism in the field of counselling and psychotherapy, I am required not only to do the 100 practicum hours but to also seek for clinical supervision from an accredited clinical supervisor.
I feel very fortunate to have been assigned by ECTA to Ms. Reena Goenka as my clinical supervisor. Not only I am a Transactional Analysis (TA) enthusiast, I am also working in majoring in this psychotherapeutic framework in my counselling journey. Having been assigned to learn and to be supervised by Reena have been very helpful not only for my growth as a counselling intern, but also been benefitting to my growth as a TA Practitioner to be.
Some of the notable professional values I would like to commend. Reena has always been very patience, kind, and generous to me whenever I was asking a lot of learning questions. Perhaps I might have even been a little annoying as a young student but she was able to handle it well and guided me with empathy, gentleness, and wisdom. She is very knowledgable and competent especially in the arena of TA, EMDR, Hypnotherapy, and overall as a professional
counsellor/psychotherapist and a clinical supervisor, in nurturing and helping me to reflect my counselling works.
Reena is also currently a president of the Transactional Analysis Association Singapore (TAAS). She has also conducted and facilitated several webinars that have helped me in my TA journey. Such as: “Contracting for Change” on 20th June 2020 “Working with Somatic Process in Therapy and Counselling Settings” on 2nd July 2020 “Understanding Depression with TA Lenses” on 16th August 2020.
Personally, I have heard many positive feedbacks about Reena from other professional peers. We all agreed that anyone wishes to be trained as a competent professional counsellor,
especially as a TA Practitioner, Reena is a highly recommended clinical supervisor!

Reena is one of the best supervisors I had. She is very knowledgeable, passionate and compassionate individual who cares about imparting her skills on junior counsellors. She is well- versed in EMDR therapy and has taught me some valuable techniques to use with clients. Highly recommended if you are looking for a clinical supervisor.
I have had the privilege to experience Reena as both my Group Supervisor during my Masters at ECTA and one-on-one for individual supervision.
As a Group Supervisor, Reena allows the group to set our supervision goals. She is conscious when allowing sufficient time for cases to be presented. With her rich experience, she gently teases out info of each case, urges each presenter to provide his view, intervention and treatment plans.
As a Counsellor, I have benefited richly from Reena’s experience, generous sharing and guidance. I am truly grateful to be mentored and supervised by her.
Thank you for your excellent supervision. I am amazed at your generosity, patience, kindness, diligence, inspiration, commitment and support that you have provided during my internship counselling journey. You make me realize that I have more ability than I think I have, challenged me, pushed me, believed in me, help me grow consistently and constructively to do better and led by example. Thank you again!

I recently completed a 3-month counselling session and as a first-timer in counselling, it's tough to gauge the effectiveness, but overall I had a positive experience.
The sessions were a safe and supportive space where I was able to work through some personal challenges and gain a better understanding of myself. The counsellor was kind, attentive, and really listened to what I had to say.
I felt heard and validated, and I appreciated their expertise and guidance. While it was sometimes difficult to confront certain issues, I ultimately felt a sense of growth and progress by the end of the experience. I would recommend this counselling session to anyone looking for support and self-discovery.
Thank you, Reena! It was a great experience receiving supervision from Reena as a trainee counsellor at Insightful Counselling. I thoroughly enjoyed the supervision hours. Every session, as the site's name suggests, was genuinely insightful. I took away so much from this learning journey, such as the working knowledge, opportunities to reflect on my biases, different counselling approaches, aligning my perspective with my abilities and the proper application/importance of micro-skills. I look forward to continuing this relationship in the next step of my education.
I am very thankful to have Reena as a supervisor. Her generous, open, warm nature made it so comfortable for me to open up and share my worries, thoughts and doubts.
