I’m Huay Khem, a Singapore-based counsellor, and I’m here to support you on your healing journey, especially when things feel overwhelming, heavy, or difficult to navigate on your own.

My own experiences with healing led me to this work. They showed me how important it is to develop both emotional awareness and practical coping skills in a world that can often feel demanding and fast-paced. After more than 25 years in training and development, I made the decision to step into counselling, a path that required courage, but felt deeply meaningful.

I hold a Master of Counselling (Advanced) from Swinburne University of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Singapore Institute of Management University. I am trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, Flash Techniques, Brainspotting, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Family Therapy, Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, Choice Theory Reality Therapy, Transactional Analysis, and clinical hypnotherapy (5-PATH and 7th Path Self-Hypnosis).

Through my freelance and volunteer work with non-profit organisations, I have supported individuals and families across a wide range of concerns, from relationship challenges to mental health difficulties.

I work with individuals and couples seeking counselling support in Singapore for trauma, childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship challenges, and personal growth. My work as a trauma therapist integrates approaches such as EMDR and Brainspotting to support deeper healing, especially when experiences feel difficult to process through talking alone.

I believe that maintaining emotional well-being and healthy relationships involves both psychotherapy and the development of practical coping skills. Therapy is not just about understanding what has happened — it is also about building the internal resources needed to move forward.

Having experience as both a counsellor and a trainer allows me to bring a balanced perspective into my work. I support clients not only in exploring their experiences, but also in developing interpersonal and emotional skills that feel realistic and sustainable in everyday life.

As a therapist, I aim to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and not judged. Building trust is an important part of the process, and I work gently and collaboratively to support you at your own pace.

Beyond my professional role, I value authenticity and human connection. I approach my work with empathy, openness, and genuine care — so you can feel at ease being yourself in the space we create together.

In this exercise, you’ll use your five senses—sight, touch, hearing, smell, and taste—to anchor yourself in the here and now.
