Hi and welcome!
I’m Reena Goenka, a seasoned professional in psychology, dedicated to guiding individuals through a spectrum of psychological challenges. My expertise spans childhood trauma, emotional distress, and experiences of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. I extend my services to couples, families, and corporate clients, addressing relationship dynamics, conflict resolution, and work-related stress.
Drawing from the principles of Transactional Analysis, particularly the empowering concept of “I am OK- You are OK,” I firmly believe in our innate capacity to make choices. I am committed to the idea that individuals can shape their destinies by transforming negative beliefs into positive perspectives.
One of my areas of expertise is dealing with the aftermath of past trauma. I assist clients in processing and overcoming distressing memories, enabling them to break free from the chains of their past and embark on a journey towards a happier, more fulfilling life. I work closely with my clients, guiding them through their healing process.
A focal point of my practice is supporting individuals in navigating the aftermath of past trauma. I work closely with clients, utilizing therapeutic modalities like EMDR therapy, Brainspotting therapy, Hypnotherapy, and Transactional Analysis therapy. I am one of the few therapists in Singapore who is ‘EMDR Certified Therapist’. I am very proud when I say I am only the second Singaporean to be a Certified Transactional Analyst (Psychotherapy) and a Certified Brainspotting Therapist.
In my professional practice, I specialize in working closely with individuals, couples, and families, utilizing Transactional Analysis as the foundational framework for addressing relationship issues and facilitating family therapy. Transactional Analysis is a powerful therapeutic approach that provides a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour, communication, and relationships. Within the realm of relationship issues and family therapy, I employ Transactional Analysis principles to explore the dynamics between individuals. This involves analyzing the various transactions, or social interactions, that take place between people and understanding the roles they play in these interactions. By identifying and unravelling these patterns, I assist clients in gaining insights into the underlying dynamics of their relationships.
In addition to my therapeutic work, I have also delivered mental wellness talks to leading organizations like Facebook, Google, Barclays, ANZ, Standard Chartered, Dell, and Oracle. I offer crisis counselling for issues such as retrenchments, employee industrial accidents, and grief and loss due to the death of an employee.
My early corporate experience has equipped me with an understanding of my clients’ issues, such as organizational conflicts, interpersonal communication, and office politics. I use Transactional Analysis to assist organizations in enhancing communication and motivating teams.
In my role as a clinical supervisor, I serve as an educational leader and mentor, leveraging my expertise to guide mental health practitioners in their professional development. Through group supervision and individual sessions, I facilitate the conceptualization of complex cases, offering guidance on evidence-based practices, treatment planning, and ethical considerations. Encouraging reflective practices, I foster self-awareness and personal growth in supervisees, working collaboratively to set and achieve professional goals. Establishing an open and supportive environment, I emphasize effective communication, cultural competence, and the importance of ethical standards. Regular feedback, performance assessment, and crisis intervention further contribute to the holistic development of supervisees, ensuring the provision of high-quality, ethical mental health services.
My practice strictly adheres to the ethical standards set by SAC (Singapore Association for Counselling) and ITAA (International Transactional Analysis Association). The safety and well-being of my clients are always my foremost priorities.
I am currently not accepting new clients for the next two months.

Testimonials
Reena has been instrumental in helping me overcome the trauma of childhood abuse inflicted by my own brother, primarily through EMDR therapy. For years, I was consumed by shame and couldn't bring myself to talk about my experience. It affected my marriage and my ability to trust my son. Through therapy with Reena, I learned to let go of the past, understand that the abuse was not my fault, and realize that not all men are like my brother. I've regained the ability to trust my son and build healthy relationships instead of sabotaging them. Most importantly, I am proud that I did not spoil the beautiful relationship my siblings enjoy with each other. A heartfelt thank you to Reena for bringing sunshine into my life.
Reena is a patient and understanding therapist who is able to distill the nuances of what I'm feeling based on what I tell her. She is encouraging yet knows when to be tough on asking challenging questions to try to get to the root of the issue and making me face hard truths.
She tries her best to accommodate to her clients' needs, and make it as collaborative a process as possible. The sessions are such that it is tailored to the client's pace and level of comfort.
I believe that talking about the challenges you face is a great way to see a new perspective of life. Getting counselling here with Reena’s help and guidance really taught me to embrace fears I never thought I’d overcome. There is no shame in getting the help you need whether it be from here or anywhere else, but i would highly recommend this having been here myself time and again.
I recently joined the group supervision with Insightful Counselling. It was a really useful session for me, I learnt a lot from my group and our supervisor was very skilful in guiding the group to discovering new ways to explore issues with our clients. Overall, a very good experience.
I've been going to Reena regularly and I've seen a big difference in my self-confidence. I have to thank Reena for her empathic ways which have always made me comfortable in our sessions.
Excellent service, the counselors are good, very thoughtful and good listeners, definitely would recommend for my friends.
Thank you so much Ms Reena, for providing a safe space and valuable support through my difficult time. I really enjoy all our sessions.
Reena has helped me immensely by using EMDR and cognitive behaviour therapy to help me get over my social anxiety.
“Counselling sessions with Reena have been of great value to me. Past few years, I have been suffering from a generalised anxiety disorder. The Brainspotting technique used by her in the sessions was magical; it helped me unfold my deepest thoughts. Her gentle enquiry to further the exploration was both soothing and healing. Every session had outstanding results. Thank you so much!!”
Thank you, Reena, for being with me for the past 3 years. You have helped me understand myself, my beliefs and my emptiness. With transactional analysis and EMDR therapy and doing two chair work between my mother and myself, I notice a visible positive shift in my relationship with my parents especially my mother. I feel loved and I am now able to be there with my family and allow them to be there for me.
Reena has helped me immensely by using EMDR and cognitive behaviour therapy to help me get over my social anxiety. I have seen a lot of improvement in myself by talking about my problems with her and trying to solve them. She also provided me with tons of helpful strategies to overcome stress and family-related issues.
I met Reena at one of the most trying times in my personal life. I was going through a divorce that brought along paralyzing challenges both in the run up to it, as also the aftermath of it. Reena worked with me over nearly a year, helping me deal with the emotional and mental wreckages within me. The discussions we had helped me understand my situation objectively, rediscover my own strengths, and move ahead with a better poise. I feel psychologically better equipped today in my outlook towards life ahead. Reena is a trustworthy ally, and if all goes to hell ever again, I am certain that her counsel, professionally and personally, will be there for me.
My daughter suffered from social anxiety since she was 16. She is 18 now. She had been seeing other counsellors before but with little avail. Reena made us both feel instantly comfortable and we felt she understood the real issue. My daughter never felt judged and, most importantly, Reena built real trust in my daughter that went a long way in her opening up. Reena has managed to reduce her anxiety a lot by giving her emotional support as and when she needs it as well as taught her simple skills to cope with when she feels low or anxious. We still go to her as and when required and I thank her from the bottom of my heart to be so empathetic always. One very big thing: Reena is almost always available on WhatsApp for emergencies or for a small query which personally for me is a very big factor as it may not always be possible to see someone at a particular time , especially when you are travelling. Thank you!
Reena really helped me when I was feeling lost. She listened to me and made me feel understood. Thanks to her, I'm much happier and more confident now.
