Yes. Our team includes SAC-registered professionals, ensuring we adhere to the highest clinical and ethical standards in Singapore.

What is the difference between your counsellors and a psychiatrist?

Our counsellors provide psychotherapy (talk therapy) to help you manage emotions and trauma. Unlike psychiatrists, we do not prescribe medication, but we can work alongside your medical doctor to provide a holistic care plan.

Where is Insightful Counselling located?

Our physical center is located in Singapore, conveniently near Outram Park MRT. We provide a calm, confidential sanctuary for in-person sessions. You can find our full address on our contact page.

Do you offer evening or weekend slots for working professionals?

Yes, we understand the “hustle” in Singapore. We offer late evening slots and weekend appointments to fit your work schedule.

How can counselling help improve my mental health and overall wellbeing?

Counselling supports your mental health by helping you manage stress, build self-awareness, and develop healthier coping strategies. At Insightful Counselling, we create a personalised plan to help you overcome challenges, process difficult emotions, and achieve a more balanced, fulfilling life. Many clients notice meaningful improvements within just a few sessions.

How do I know if I need counselling?

If you are struggling with difficult emotions, relationship challenges, or life transitions that are affecting your daily life, counselling may be very helpful. Signs that counselling could benefit you include persistent sadness or anxiety, difficulty coping, strained relationships, work-related burnout, or trauma responses. We offer a free initial consultation to discuss your concerns and explore whether our services are the right fit. Contact us.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your goals. Some clients find clarity in 6–8 sessions, while others dealing with deep-seated trauma may benefit from long-term support.

How often should I attend counselling sessions for the best results?

The frequency of sessions varies based on individual needs and goals. We typically recommend starting with weekly sessions to build momentum, then adjusting as you progress. Your therapist will work with you to create a schedule that best supports your wellness journey.

Can I receive counselling in languages other than English at your Singapore clinic?

Yes, Insightful Counselling offers counselling in English, Mandarin, and Hindi to support Singapore’s diverse multicultural community. Please let us know your preferred language when booking your appointment, and we will match you with the most suitable therapist

Yes, we offer counselling for individuals dealing with cultural, identity, or expat-related issues. Our therapists understand Singapore’s diverse environment and provide support tailored to your unique challenges.

What is the difference between a Senior Therapist and an Intern session?

Senior therapists have years of specialised experience in trauma (EMDR/Brainspotting). Our Interns are supervised by Master’s students, who offer free online sessions and face-to-face sessions at a lower rate of SGD $10 to make mental health accessible. See our Fees Page for a full breakdown.

How do I know which therapist at Insightful Counselling is right for me?

Finding the right fit involves matching your specific goals (like trauma recovery or marriage support) with a therapist’s specialisation and therapeutic approach (such as EMDR or the Gottman Method). We recommend reviewing our team profiles to see whose experience resonates with you. The most important factor is the ‘therapeutic alliance’—feeling safe, heard, and non-judged during your first session. If you’re unsure, you can contact us for a recommendation based on your needs.

Can I switch therapists if I don’t feel a "click"?

Absolutely. The “therapeutic alliance” is the most important factor for success. If you don’t feel a connection, we can help transition you to another team member without judgment.

What can I expect in my first counselling session at Insightful Counselling?

In your first session, you will have the opportunity to share what has brought you to therapy and what has been weighing on you. Your therapist will explore your concerns, discuss your goals, and begin building a personalised therapy plan. New clients can typically begin confidential counselling within a week, with evening and weekend availability to suit busy schedules. You can expect a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and supported — there is no pressure to cover everything at once.

Face-to-face counselling, on the other hand, provides in-person connection, which some clients find helps build rapport and trust more naturally. It can also offer a more immersive, distraction-free environment.

Both online and face-to-face counselling have been shown to be equally effective, and the choice depends on your personal preference, comfort level, and lifestyle needs.

Is everything I share confidential? What about my employer?

Confidentiality is strictly maintained under the PDPA and professional ethics. Your employer or family will not have access to your records unless you provide explicit written consent, or in rare cases where there is a serious risk of harm.

How quickly can I see results with counselling?

Results vary, but many clients notice improvements within a few sessions. Your therapist will help track your progress and adjust the treatment plan to suit your goals.

What are your fees for counselling sessions?

Counselling fees at Insightful Counselling typically range from SGD $150 to $260 per session, depending on the therapist and type of therapy. We also offer affordable options, including $10 face-to-face Sunday sessions and free Zoom sessions with our supervised intern counsellors. View our full fee schedule. Visit our fees page.

Do you offer online counselling services in Singapore?

Yes, Insightful Counselling offers secure online counselling for clients in Singapore and internationally, including Phuket, the USA, Germany, Malaysia and India. Online therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions for most concerns and provides greater flexibility and convenience. Both online and face-to-face sessions are conducted with the same professional standard of care. Learn more about online counselling.

When to Use This Technique:
- During moments of stress or anxiety.
- When experiencing intrusive thoughts.
- To create a sense of calm in a busy day.
