I have known Reena Goenka for 13 years and have had the privilege of working with her in several capacities.
Reena has served in various roles in the Exco of the Transactional Analysis Association (Singapore) since 2010, and is currently the President of the TAAS Exco. She is a highly-experienced clinical practitioner of Transactional Analysis, Reena has also supported my own training courses by co-facilitating sessions in Redecision psychotherapy; her mastery of the subject and excellent communication skills have enabled participants in these sessions to intimately appreciate the effectiveness of this counselling approach.
As a Clinical Supervisor, Reena has been instrumental in providing many trainee counsellors at the Executive Counselling and Training Academy with the clinical competence and confidence they need to support the healing journey of their own clients.
Reena’s own values and character is evident in her conduct as a clinician and as a leader of the Transactional Analysis community in Singapore. As a colleague, I have come to value her integrity, straightforwardness, compassion, sense of responsibility, and reliability.

I have known Reena while she worked at WINGS as a Counsellor for three years and beyond that period, as a fellow community counsellor. During this period, she has had the experience of working with both adults and young people dealing with a range of difficulties ranging from anxiety, stress, anger, self-esteem and self-confidence, while dealing with individual, marital and family cases.
Observing her as a Colleague who also received supervision of her work from me, I noticed that Reena was always committed to be in the shoes of her clients, and was mindful of putting client’s interest above all others. She remained flexible, adaptive, and dealt with her clients with utmost respect. The other quality was being open to new way of learning and adapting which made her a good therapist.
Besides being involved in the therapeutic work, Reena took up the responsibility of conducting several Talks and Workshops to address the various needs of the clientele while being a staff at the centre.Within a team, she worked very well with other colleagues and it was observed that she could not only communicate her own ideas well to others, she could also listen well and pitch in to the voices of others, making her an excellent team player.
In terms of personal attributes, Reena has a pleasant and affable personality.I wish her well in all her future endeavours.

Senior Counsellor Clinical Supervisor

I started seeing Reena for my daughter who was then 16 years old and undergoing social anxiety. ( She is 18 now) . She had been seeing other counsellors before but with little avail as each relationship connects differently .
With Reena, we both felt comfortable talking, felt she understood the real issue , never felt judged and most importantly, she built real trust in my daughter that went a long way in her opening up .
Reena till date hasnt shared what my daughter has discussed with her ( unless it involves risk) and has managed to reduce her anxiety a lot by giving her emotional support as and when she needs it as well as taught her simple skills to cope with when she feels low or anxious .
We still go to her as and when required and I thank her from the bottom of my heart to be so empathetic always .
Thank u . 😊🙏🏻
( One more thing: she is almost always available on watsapp for emergencies or for a small query which personally for me is a very big factor as it may not always be possible to see someone at a particular time , especially when u r travelling) .
Reena has all the makings of a good counselor in my experience and I glad that I found her! I went to her on account of a bereavement of a close family member and even thought it was outside my immediate family it was a really painful and distressing time of my life as we were very close. I have a history of emotional distress and the bereavement was very hard to deal with especially as it came on the back of other ongoing distress and Reena was instrumental in helping me work through some longstanding issues that were exacerbating the situation. Seeking timely help and finding a counselor who is empathetic and involved made all the difference...
I met Reena at one of the most trying times in my personal life. I was going through a divorce that brought along paralyzing challenges both in the run up to it, as also the aftermath of it. Reena worked with me over nearly a year, helping me deal with the emotional and mental wreckages within me. The discussions we had helped me understand my situation objectively, rediscover my own strengths, and move ahead with a better poise. While my road to recovery continues, as does my association with Reena, I feel psychologically better equipped today in my outlook towards life ahead. Reena is a trustworthy ally, and if all goes to hell ever again, I am certain that her counsel professionally and personally will be there for me. I wish her much luck in her new venture, and I am confident that her work will continue to make life better for several other beings over the years to come."
Reena has helped me immensely by using EMDR and cognitive behaviour therapy to help me get over my social anxiety. I have seen a lot of improvement in myself by talking about my problems with her and trying to solve them. She also provided me with tons of helpful strategies to overcome stress and family-related issues.
Reena this is how I feel talking to you.
Thank you, Reena, for being with me for the past 3 years. You have helped me understand myself, my beliefs and my emptiness. With transactional analysis and EMDR therapy and doing two chair work between my mother and myself, I notice a visible positive shift in my relationship with my parents especially my mother. I feel loved and I am now able to be there with my family and allow them to be there for me.
"My experience with Reena:
I went to Reena when I was undergoing a lot of work related stress. It was affecting my well-being and every other aspect of my personal life. She not only helped me manage it but also helped me narrow down other factors that may have aggravated it.
After spending a couple of sessions knowing me and my background, the things that were bothering me, she started with EMDR. That helped me so much with my anxiety. It made me process my old memories which were still haunting my present without me having any clue.
She was so patient with me. She gave me the space and a comfortable environment to open about myself and helped me find answers to a lot of question marks in my life.
Every time I would go to her with a doubt, a confusion or question, she never gave me the answer. Instead, she would ask me more questions and ultimately make me find my own answers.
Later, she started Transactional Analysis as a part of my therapy. Which has helped me realize my strengths and made me an efficient communicator. And most importantly it has taught me the biggest lesson if my life, that I need to communicate to others when I am not okay, with the use of non-offensive/defensive and matured words.
She has such a human touch to her therapy. I am a person who is addictively always late (as much as I hate it and I try to improve). Yet she was always so flexible. Always understanding that someone can get delayed due to a train fault or an earlier engagement. I rarely saw her looking at her watch and mostly ended up asking her questions right when our time was up. But she always gave me her ear and suggestions. Always!!! She isn't like the highly professional people in this field who become strangers as soon as my time with her was finished. She not only gave me therapy but also added such a human touch to her technique. This in turn always gave me the confidence to be open with her.
Reena is someone who not only helped me deal with my mid-life crisis, she has empowered me at the same time.
Reena is a nurturing therapist. Her voice has a calming effect and she helped me connect with myself. I started my therapy to understand why I have this need to please everyone. We went on a journey to understand my childhood and I had amazing insight about my upbringing and my early decisions taken. I have now taken some (many) new decisions and life is liberating and happy. Thank you Reena.
“Love yourself”, that’s what Reena taught me at first place when I had worst emotional break down of life. Many things happened all together in my life personal that impacted professional too and that too during COVID . I felt demons in my head and was not able to sleep for days. But talking to her got me slowly to track . She never forced me to do things aggressively to get out of that dark period of my life. She was all ears for few sessions and than understood my position and mentally helped me to be pulled out of that dark phase . If she wasn’t there, I would have lost track or I don’t know what more. Glad that she was my consultant. Thanks doctor Reena once again which I know isn’t enough.
"This was my first time engaging in therapy - and I was pretty nervous and anxious odf starting this. But with Reena, I felt comfortable, and was able to share my deepest feelings and emotions in a very open and non-judgmental space. When I started the sessions, I wasn't aware of the underlying issues causing anxiousness, but via talking to her, I was able to realise and address some of the deepest concerns and reasons which made a real difference in how I feel today in my life. This included dealing with - history of cancer in family, cheating and anxiety issues regarding responsibility of parents. It was not easy to navigate through so many issues, but we took one thing at a time and addressed it bit by bit. I highly recommend her for such therapy sessions as she has the much needed maturity, understanding and a trust based relationship."
Reena helped me to identify and confront a deep rooted subconscious fear that I had never vocalized. Through our sessions, I could learn how to deal with this and move forward.
I started with Reena in 2014 and could not leave ever since.
I learned a lot about marriage and was able to find the problems and the reasons for hopelessness within myself in our marriage. Helped a great deal as she walked me through my thoughts. I also did a therapy with her which helped me fix/address one of my major childhood issue which I had been carrying for 22 years. That therapy did wonders and I could happily move on with life without any more guilts.
My marriage has been a troubled one and she helped me sail through those...
she helped me figure out how to love myself and do things for self to maintain my own sanity first. That way i was better sorted to handle all other things.
Highly recommend her!
Reena has been my clinical supervisor since I graduated from a counselling master programme. She is patient and attentive. She makes me feel comfortable and less worry. Her counselling and supervision skills and knowledge are much to be admired for and she is generous with her knowledge. I left her office feeling fulfilled every time after the session. She is a extraordinary supervisor.
Letter of Appreciation
As an intern working towards professionalism in the field of counselling and psychotherapy, I am required not only to do the 100 practicum hours but to also seek for clinical supervision from an accredited clinical supervisor.
I feel very fortunate to have been assigned by ECTA to Ms. Reena Goenka as my clinical
supervisor. Not only I am a Transactional Analysis (TA) enthusiast, I am also working in majoring in this psychotherapeutic framework in my counselling journey. Having been assigned to learn and to be supervised by Reena have been very helpful not only for my growth as a counselling intern, but also been benefitting to my growth as a TA Practitioner to be.
Some of the notable professional values I would like to commend. Reena has always been
very patience, kind, and generous to me whenever I was asking a lot of learning questions. Perhaps I might have even been a little annoying as a young student but she was able to handle it well and guided me with empathy, gentleness, and wisdom. She is very knowledgable and competent especially in the arena of TA, EMDR, Hypnotherapy, and overall as a professional
counsellor/psychotherapist and a clinical supervisor, in nurturing and helping me to reflect my
Reena is also currently a president of the Transactional Analysis Association Singapore
(TAAS). She has also conducted and facilitated several webinars that have helped me in my TA
journey. Such as: “Contracting for Change” on 20th June 2020, “Working with Somatic Process in Therapy and Counselling Settings” on 2nd July 2020, “Understanding Depression with TA Lenses” on 16th August 2020.
Personally, I have heard many positive feedbacks about Reena from other professional
peers. We all agreed that anyone wishes to be trained as a competent professional counsellor,
especially as a TA Practitioner, Reena is a highly recommended clinical supervisor!
Thank you Reena! You’re a great blessing and I am fortunate to be basked in your wisdom.
Reena is one of the best supervisors I had. She is very knowledgeable, passionate and compassionate individual who cares about imparting her skills on junior counsellors. She is well- versed in EMDR therapy and has taught me some valuable techniques to use with clients. Highly recommended if you are looking for a clinical supervisor.
I have had the privilege to experience Reena as both my Group Supervisor during my Masters at ECTA and one-on-one for individual supervision.
As a Group Supervisor, Reena allows the group to set our supervision goals. She is conscious when allowing sufficient time for cases to be presented. With her rich experience, she gently teases out info of each case, urges each presenter to provide his view, intervention and treatment plans.
At individual supervision sessions, besides doing the above, Reena would also gently see to how I am coping and how my personal views are influencing my handling of the cases positively or negatively.
As a Counsellor, I have benefited richly from Reena’s experience, generous sharing and guidance. I am truly grateful to be mentored and supervised by her.
