Hi and welcome!
I believe that every individual has a deep need for love and belonging and it is through the development of close, caring relationships that one can most effectively fulfil other life needs, build resilience, and achieve happiness.
Do you struggle to communicate your needs in your relationships? Or often find yourself compromising your needs to sustain the relationship? The health of one’s relationships has a direct correlation to an individual’s self-confidence, esteem, motivation, success, growth and, ultimately, happiness.
I view relationships in two distinct dimensions: relationship with self, and relationship with others. And it is the former that is the starting point for success with the latter. I work with individuals, couples, families, and children towards building secure balanced relationships. I use myriad structured and experiential counselling modalities, evidenced by research and I strongly regard the quality of the client–therapist relationship as the prime determinant of the outcome of the therapeutic process. I am open to, and have worked with, all sexual orientations and genders.
After nearly two decades of a fulfilling government/ corporate career, I decided to pursue my passion to ‘help people build close caring relationships’ and I chose Counselling to do so. I hold a Master’s in Advanced Counselling from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, and a Graduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology from CAE Singapore.
As the early blueprint for relationships is defined through childhood experiences in the family of origin, I decided to specialize in Family Therapy Interventions during my Master’s in Counselling. Additionally, I have trained in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) for counselling and rapport building with my clients.
I am also trained in Systemic, Structural, Trans-Generational and Experiential Family Therapy Interventions, Transactional Analysis (TA), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Choice Theory and Reality Therapy (CTRT) and Psychodynamic Therapy interventions.
Blessed with astute emotional acumen, I am able to accurately gauge the impact of life situations on an individual’s perceptions of success, happiness, or pain points.
In my counselling practice, I have worked extensively with clients suffering from anxiety disorders and Panic Attacks, Depression, Pre and Post-Natal Depression, Grief and Loss, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Somatization, School Refusal, Behavioural/Emotional Dysregulation, Infidelity and Marital Trust, Domestic Violence, Expatriate and Immigrant adjustment challenges, Parenting and Teenage Communication, Alcohol Dependence and Addictions.
I also actively volunteer with the local welfare associations for Suicide Prevention, Crisis Support, and Mental Health awareness building.
A life-long learner, I strive to keep myself updated with the latest research in my professional field of therapy through personal reading, trainings and workshops and have regular supervision for my counselling practice.
I have lived in Singapore for the last 20 years but was born and raised in India. Having spent half my life in India and the other half in Singapore, I bring a deep understanding of both the countries and their cultures to my practice. Moreover, my extensive travel around the world in my career provides me with the insight to fathom the challenges faced by the expatriate and immigrant population.
I am married with two adult children who have grown-up in Singapore. I am a voracious reader and my personal destressing activities are crocheting, decoupage and listening to classical music.
I met Adeeti about 6 months ago. It is my first experience seeing a therapist and it saved me. I was going through a hard period of my life and the relationship with the people was complicated. Adeeti helped me first to see the good part about me and how to take care of myself. After each session she would give me self-affirmations and assignments to help find myself. Though I would meet her only once a week for 1 hour, her words are with me throughout the entire week. Adeeti helped me as well to understand other people. I always feel that Adeeti is so knowlageble and kind. Whatever I would speak about or have any doubts, she would come with great insights. From what are my rights at my work place to how to understand my children's emissions. Thank you Adeeti for being such an amazing person.
