Hi and Welcome!
Profile
I was born and lived in South Korea for half of my life. Then the other half of my life, I lived in different countries such as Australia, Japan, China, New York and mainly Singapore.
Through my experience of living abroad, I have developed problem-solving skills and empathy that make me uniquely suited for working with people at various stages of life. Furthermore, based on previous working experience in a multinational environment with a diverse population, I have strong interpersonal communication skills and cultural sensitivity. Respecting individual uniqueness and multiculturalism is a core value in my therapy for clients. I view humans as a work of complex art that can be conceptualized by individuality and uniqueness. As per Adlerian Therapy, people can be only understood as integrated and complete beings.
Therapy Approach
Overall, my therapeutic approach is integrative, humanistic and strengths based. In order to make the therapeutic change of clients, it requires comprehensive change of “emotions, cognition, behavior and the interpersonal relationship”. Fundamentally grounded by person Centered Therapy(PCT), I use the element of Solution Focused Brief Therapy(SFBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT), Reality Therapy(RT). My approach is also aligned with Family Therapy as I view the person in the context of the relationship and influences of one’s family, community and culture.
“We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.”
